For husband and wife team Catherine and Martin, making the switch to running their own business was the best thing they ever did. Taking over Faranda Automotive Service in South Brisbane, they discovered a true passion for the industry, and for helping thousands of people with their cars every year. It was no surprise when, in 2018, these Sunshine Coast locals expanded to SVS Autocare.
Building on SVS Autocare’s excellent reputation, Catherine and Martin rebranded their South Brisbane workshop with the same name, extending their commitment to offering first class service for prestige cars.
Being a people person, Catherine loves nothing more than ensuring every customer receives VIP treatment. Meanwhile, Martin is never happier than when he’s got his head under the hood of a car – he’s been doing it ever since he was old enough to hold a spanner!
Martin particularly likes to get stuck into classic car restorations, engine upgrades, and conversions – and not just for customers! He has been restoring Catherine’s 1972 Chevrolet Corvette, and also built a much-loved 1972 Chevrolet Camaro, competing in the Australian Trans-am Racing Series here in Queensland.
When Nic began his apprenticeship in 2007, nobody was surprised; he had been mad about everything automotive from a young age and has built up a wealth of knowledge and expertise. When it came to specialising, Nic chose to train as a Senior Land Rover Technician, later also focusing on Jaguar.
Having worked with these vehicles for so long, Nic knows Porsche, Land Rover and Jaguar inside-out; whatever it is, Nic will find it and fix it!
But that’s not all; he also loves his high-performance Japanese vehicles, making him our go-to for those marques. He says it’s that variety and constant challenge of something new that he loves most about working at SVS Autocare.
Known around the workshop as Jack, Giacomo has been in the industry for over a decade, having done his mechanics apprenticeship in Florence, Italy. We seriously believe he would find his way around an engine no problem, even if we made him wear a blindfold!
Lucky for SVS Autocare, Jack loves tackling the big jobs, like timing chains and engine rebuilds. He says it’s the satisfaction of getting a vehicle up and running again that really makes his day.
A summer spent working in his uncle’s workshop in Newtown, Mid Wales as a teenager sparked Olly’s passion for automotive engineering. After completing his studies at Coleg Powys in Newtown, he did his apprenticeship in the UK, working with European cars.
Over the last 15 years or more, Olly’s diagnostic skills have blossomed, and he loves the variety of work he does on our customers’ vehicles every day. It really brings out the detective in him as he searches for the problem using the oscilloscope and makes his diagnosis.
When he’s not working on cars, he’s watching them, as he’s a huge World Rally fan.
David cut his automotive teeth working on Renaults in his uncle’s busy city workshop in Bogota, Columbia. In the years since, he has expanded his knowledge and skills and can now work on any make and model of car.
David particularly loves finding ways of improving a car’s performance – he’s a great fan of muscle cars and would like to own a Camaro S69 one day. He’s pretty handy on the electrical side of things, too, getting a real kick out of finding and fixing faults.
Jacob joined the team with experience in vehicle repairs while working on the road for the RACQ. He brings his vast knowledge of how engines operate to the office team, ensuring each vehicle and their owners are well cared for.
Jacob loves the challenge of never knowing what is going to come through the door; a high performance vehicle, a high-end luxury model, or even the reliable family car.
Jacob’s dream car is the Aston Martin DB5. “I am a huge James Bond fan and that car just resonates with anyone who loves that franchise. I’d love all the cool gadgets that come along with it too if possible…”
Emanuele is a very passionate Italian from Brindisi in Italy who loves his job. Known as Lele to his peers, he is always happy and smiling and keen to get the job done. Since 2007 he has a vast experience with European vehicles and is also a competent motorcycle mechanic.
Lele is also a CNC Programmer (Computer Numerical Control Programmer), so loves the modern vehicle electrical control systems and the challenges they bring.
At SVS Autocare, we are particularly proud of our front of house team. These team members play an important role in making our customers’ journey as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Trent has spent many years in customer service across different industries; working in the automotive industry is his favorite. He has a passion for cars and belongs to a car enthusiast club. Trent describes SVS Autocare as somewhere you work hard for the customers, but also have lots of fun doing it.
